Habitat for Humanity

Throughout the years, First Pres has partnered with Habitat for Humanity in their mission to provide the opportunity for home ownership to eliminate poverty housing in Evansville and in Vanderburgh and Posey counties.

First Pres has been a sponsor of two homes.  The first was part of Evansville’s first inter-faith build, joining with the Jewish and Muslim communities, and funded by a gift from the estate of Charles and Mary Sperry. The second was a partnership with several congregations in a Diversity Build.

First Pres continues to partner with Habitat for Humanity, providing funding and volunteer support.

First Presbyterian is currently participating in the Habitat for Humanity Interfaith Build from now until October 3.  To volunteer to work at the jobsite, go to www.evansvillehabitat.org/volunteer, and choose “Click Here to Volunteer Now”.  Then click on “Sign Up!”  Fill out the Volunteer application (two pages) and make sure to choose Interfaith Build from the dropdown list at the bottom of the second page, where it asks if you are volunteering as part of a church or religious group. After you save your application, click on “Sign up for something (the next step)”.  You will get a webpage listing the available dates to work on the Interfaith Build.    Check the date(s) you wish to work and confirm.  If you cannot sign up online and would like to work, please call Andrea Ward at 812-423-5623, Ext. 33, and ask to sign up for the Interfaith Build.
