CROP Walk

Members of First Pres are sponsored to walk two miles with other denominations to collect money at the annual Evansville CROP Walk. This fundraiser supports the work of Church World Service nationwide and internationally, as well as the Tristate Food Bank and the Evansville Food Pantry system.

Church World Service, a cooperative ministry of 36 denominations throughout the world, receives 75 percent of the proceeds from the walk. Working with partners in the United States and around the world, Church World Service builds interfaith and intercultural coalitions to eradicate hunger and poverty and promote peace and justice. Its ministries range from disaster response in the United States and other parts of the world to long-term sustainable grassroots development in more than 80 countries, including our own.

The other 25 percent of the proceeds from the walk go to local projects including the Tri-State Food Bank and the Emergency Food Pantry System of Evansville. The Food Bank serves food pantries, soup kitchens and other programs feeding the hungry in 33 Tri-State counties. The Food Pantry System will serve more than 17,000 four-day supplies of food to local families this year.
