Free First Friday Concert

First Presbyterian Church is excited to welcome Jefimija Zlatanovic and Madeline Varda for our March First Friday Concert.
Jefimija is from Novi Sad, Serbia, where she started her music education at Novi Sad Academy of the Arts, learning piano and eventually taking up organ. In 2013, she came to the United States to pursue a bachelor degree in organ performance from University of Indianapolis, where she graduated in 2017. During her time as undergrad, Jefimija performed solo recitals at Christ Church Cathedral, Northminster Presbyterian Church and other local churches in Indianapolis, and she served as organist for Bethany Lutheran Church for three years. During the summer when she visits her hometown, she serves as a visiting organist at the Snezne Gospe Catholic church, where she plays weekly services and plans evening concerts. Currently, Jefimija is pursuing her M.M. at Indiana University, where she studies under Dr. Christopher Young and she is the organist for First Presbyterian Church in Bedford, Indiana.
Madeleine Varda is a second year Masters student at The Jacobs School of Music where she is pursuing a Master’s of Music in Organ Performance under the direction of Dr. Janette Fishell. She began her organ studies by winning a scholarship given by The American Guild of Organists to pianists with an interest in organ. As a result she was able to study with Dr. Richard Isley for a few months. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Tampa, where she studied organ with Dr.Ryan Hebert and was mentored by Dr. Haig Mardirosian. She currently serves as Music Director and Organist at Christian Tabernacle Church, in Franklin, Indiana. In between her Bachelor's and Master’s programs Madeleine was selected to participate in the Organ Academy at the Bach Music Festival in Eugene, Oregon, There she was able to study under Dr.Paul Jacobs, the chair of The Julliard School.
